How did your passion for Land Rovers start?
Back when I was a kid playing with Matchbox toys I had a blue Land Rover 109 with plastic luggage on the roof. I used to pretend I was on safari in the backyard playing in the dirt. Watching TV and movies as I grew up firmly planted the image of adventure and the rugged Land Rover into the deep recesses of my brain. Ive always just loved the look of them no matter where they are. They just scream adventure to me.
What was the first Land Rover you owned?
The first and only Land Rover I have owned I just bought this summer. a 1971 Series 2A 109 station wagon.
How many Land Rovers have you owned?
Just the one…but I can see others in my future.
Do your Land Rovers have a name? If so, what is the name?
Alfred. Named after Batman’s faithful manservant (and my father in law)
What is your most memorable Land Rover moment?
My family and I picked Alfred up in England this past summer and the five of us travelled all over Europe in it before shipping it to our home in California.
The photos and memories from that trip are the realization of my childhood dream of adventure in my little blue Matchbox car. I will treasure that trip forever and I believe my wife and kids will as well.
What is your favourite accessory on your Land Rover and why?
For me it is the spare tire mounted on the bonnet. There is just nothing quite like having that in the frame of the view of the road ahead.
Even a trip to town for coffee is an adventure…(or at least I can pretend it is)

My Land Rover has a soul because it is a part of the family. Like us all it has its good days and bad and occasional temper tantrums, but like tucking my kids in bed for the night, I always pause and smile a bit before I turn off the light in the garage after putting Alfred away after a drive.
